Ways You Can Help

At Farsophone, we’re always looking for compassionate and dedicated volunteers to help us support the emotional well-being of the Farsi-speaking community. Whether you’re a trained professional or simply passionate about mental health, your time and skills can make a real difference.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and levels of experience including students, professionals, and community members who want to get involved.

Counselling (Trainee or Qualified)

We warmly welcome both trainee and qualified counsellors who are passionate about delivering culturally sensitive and trauma-informed mental health support within Farsi-speaking communities. This is a meaningful opportunity to work alongside an experienced, compassionate team in a collaborative and supportive environment.

As a counsellor, you will provide one-to-one support to individuals dealing with a range of emotional and psychological challenges, including grief, trauma, anxiety, depression and life transitions. You will also contribute to a wider mission of breaking stigma around mental health and promoting emotional wellbeing in marginalised communities.

Requirements:

  • You must be currently enrolled in, or have completed, a recognised counselling or psychotherapy training programme.

  • A strong interest in culturally competent practice and a commitment to ethical, client-centred care.

  • Regular clinical supervision will be provided, along with opportunities for peer support and ongoing professional development.

Whether you’re looking to complete placement hours or further your clinical experience, we offer a welcoming space where your contribution truly makes a difference.

Workshop Support

Support the delivery of our emotional well-being and mental health workshops designed to uplift and empower the community. As a volunteer, you’ll play a key role in setting up welcoming and accessible spaces, greeting and assisting participants, supporting facilitators during group activities, and helping to foster a warm, respectful, and inclusive environment where individuals feel safe to learn, share, and connect.

This is a hands-on role ideal for those who enjoy engaging with people, building community, and contributing to meaningful conversations around mental health and emotional resilience.

Great for:
Friendly, organised individuals who are passionate about mental well-being, enjoy creating inclusive environments, and thrive in group settings. Perfect for those looking to gain experience in community work, group facilitation, or mental health awareness initiatives.

Fundraising

Help us raise the vital funds needed to continue offering free mental health support to those who need it most. As a fundraising volunteer, you can get involved in a variety of ways, from lending a hand at organised events to launching your own creative initiatives such as bake sales, sponsored walks, art auctions, online challenges or social media campaigns. Every pound raised helps us reach more people in crisis or distress.

Whether you are a natural organiser, a creative thinker or simply passionate about mental health, this role gives you the freedom to make an impact in a way that suits your skills and schedule.

Flexible commitment:
Ideal for individuals who want to support our mission in their own time, contribute fresh ideas or gain experience in event planning, fundraising or community outreach.

Admin Support

If you are organised, reliable and have an eye for detail, your support behind the scenes can make a big impact. As an admin volunteer, you’ll help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our services by assisting with tasks such as responding to enquiries, managing emails, updating databases, preparing materials for events or workshops, and maintaining records and volunteer systems.

You will play a key role in helping our team stay efficient, responsive and well-organised, making it possible for frontline staff to focus on delivering direct support to the community.

Skills needed:
Confidence with basic computer tasks, good communication skills, and a methodical approach to organisation. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys structure, values accuracy and wants to contribute meaningfully behind the scenes.
